Grant Margo Her Holiday Wish
Meet Miss Margo! Margo is a French bulldog came into Underdog Rescue a few weeks ago after spending the first 6 years of her life as a commercial breeder. She is happy, go-lucky little girl, who is learning to enjoy the simple things in life – like tasty treats and comfy dog beds – with one huge problem, Margo has serious trouble breathing. Margo has what is called brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome, which simply put means she struggles for every breath for air. The loud noises you hear in the video are due to an elongated soft palate that is blocking her airway at the back of her throat.
If you want to know what it is like for Margo, try this: make the same sound at the back of your throat with your breathing as you hear her doing in the video – and do it for a full 5 minutes or just ask someone with severe asthma. Not being able to breathe well makes it hard for Margo to do things like take walks or play. There is a surgery that will help Margo breathe easy, except her piggy bank is empty and she needs a little help paying for it.
This is Margo’s first real Christmas and she has a very simple wish and that is to be able to breathe.
