Hello, my name is Rye. I am an incredibly handsome albeit aloof young adult male Rottweiler/Shepherd mix who is a mellow people-pleaser. I enjoy going on leashed walks, chilling on the couch with my people, chewing on bones, and playing with toys. I will even share my toys with my fur sibs but when it comes to food, although I’m not very food motivated, I am a bit territorial so it’s best that I eat in my kennel/crate if there are other dogs around.

Since I have a high prey drive, I am a flight risk so I will need a securely fenced yard and close supervision. I am potty & kennel/crate trained and I’m good with kids, but I sometimes forget how big I am so smaller kids may not be a good fit for me. I am a smart boy too, I know all sorts of commands like: “sit”, “stay”, “down”, “come”, “kennel/crate”, “outside”, “go potty”, “wait”, & “leave it” and I would love for my new family to teach me a lot more so I can reach my full potential.

I am a precious love bug who is simply looking for my fur-ever home with a wonderfully patient family who will love me unconditionally and NEVER give up on me. I think you and I are meant to share our lives together. I promise I’m worth it and I will totally light up your world! Love, Rye

Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
