Hi there! My name is PJ. I’m a handsome young guy looking for a forever home. They tell me I’m a cattle dog, but I don’t have any cattle. Do you?! Probably not. So let’s start this relationship out with common ground – we’re a match. Neither of us have cattle!
Basically, I’m a super happy dude that loves you to pieces once I’ve gotten to know you. After I get out all my excitement, I’ll follow you around and lay by your feet. I’ve had some play dates with other dogs and I can tell you, I’m a party guy. I am learning how to take cues from other dogs when they are done playing or need a break. Sometimes I am too happy and just want to keep going. We are working on my social skills with both dogs and people. I LOVE to be around my people, and learning to tolerate strangers. Sometimes I am cautious with strangers and will tell them to stay away (bark bark). My people said I am slow to warm up, but making great progress! The kind of people I like the most are those that will play fetch with me. Because I l-o-v-e some fetch! If I’m honest, I love bones and Kongs too but I don’t have to chase those.
It will take me a little bit of time to get to know you. If a stranger comes into the house, I’ll be sure to tell you about that and everyone in ear shot. So shared walls might not be a good idea. I’m young so there are a few “work in progress” things my people are helping me with. We are working on not jumping on people when excited, mom says “down” and I am trying my best to listen!
I am crate-trained and know lots of commands: sit, down, come, stay, leave it and go potty! So I’ve been busy here at the foster home and they sure are nice to help me learn these things. I’m doing great learning how to walk on a leash so I don’t need a fenced yard as long as you make time to exercise with me everyday. That would be such a great thing to do with you!
I can be an only dog also. Not sure if I have a preference on size. I have been around kids under 12 and I’m doing just fine. I even listen well when I’ve taken a toy or shoe that isn’t mine, when they tell me to leave it or drop it - I do!
I am very excited to meet my forever family and go on adventures – can’t wait to meet you! Love PJ
**Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work!
