Hello, I’m MewMew, a very beautiful senior female Pit Bull/Boxer mix and I am a total cuddle bug! No, really, it’s true…I have not met any children, but I love cuddling with foster mom and my resident fur sib. I will even roll onto my back and wait for belly scratches from mom. I also enjoy chewing on bones; eating treats/food; playing with stuffed toys; going on leashed walks; and exploring a VERY securely fenced yard. Truth is, I can get myself into trouble outside, so I need to be closely monitored because you see, it seems to be my life’s mission to get out of the yard by pushing open gates and jumping over or digging under things etc. Sure, I may be a senior girl, but I can run, jump, frolic, and romp around with the best of ‘em! Hee, hee!!

Additionally, I am quite a huntress and love to hunt for bunnies…I will even try to escape the fenced yard to catch one, so I think it’s safe to say that cats and small, reactive, or dominant dogs are not a good fit for me. My resident fur sib is a Pit Bull/Lab mix like me and she doesn’t have a dominant bone in her body which is probably why I get along so well with her! Hee, hee!! Truth told, I have been known to get into a scuffle if you will, with my smaller resident fur sib so I would do best as an only dog in my new home…just sayin’!

I am a very smart, treat-motivated girl who is not only potty trained and knows what “sit” and “down” mean but I am sly too and will figure out alternative ways to get what I want which foster mom says is both good and bad (hee, hee). I am a strong lady who tends to pull foster mom around the neighborhood on our walks especially if I see critters that pique my interest. I am not a fan of the kennel and have been known to destroy them (even the metal crates). That said, I seem to do better when I have my dog bed, a blanket, some kind of treat like a peanut butter filled Kong, and mom partially covers the kennel with a blanket. But I would rather not be in it at all and thankfully, at night I get to sleep outside the kennel in the bedroom with mom which is awesome especially because she thinks my snoring is adorable! Hee, hee!!

Anyway, I am SO affectionate and sweet and I’m simply looking for a fur-ever home that I can call my own with a patient, unconditionally loving family that will NEVER give up on me! I really don’t think that’s too much to ask do you!?! I promise that I’m worth it and I will love you more than you could possibly imagine! Love, MewMew

**Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a    particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
