Hello, my name is Champion. I am a highly energetic and strong, young adult male Pit Bull who loves to run around the house, play with balls, rubber toys and Kongs, go for leashed walks, eat treats, lounge outside, people watch, and bark about lots of things! Really, I do. I would love a forever family that would take me on short runs, or long walks where I can stroll and sniff lots of smells!    When I’m not doing any of that I enjoy a good snuggle session on the couch with my peeps or a relaxing moment to myself on my bed…just me, a bone on which to chew and my thoughts!

I have a broken pelvis and the doctor does not recommend surgery at this time, but mom says you’d never know I have a broken pelvis because my zest for life and ability to run, jump and play have not been impacted a bit. That said, my new family should know that even though the doctor does not currently recommend surgery there may be future concerns. I may be prone to arthritis, so some supplements to help with that would be great!

I am respectful of cats and am good with kids and other dogs but as I mentioned, I am strong…very strong so kids should be older and/or have experience with muscular dogs like me. I would hate to play too rough and accidentally hurt any of them. Additionally, I have been working SOOOO hard at training. I attended this AMAZING camp where I was taught a ton of new skills. I learned how to be a part of the pack and how to stay calm around new dogs and people. I  would like my Forever Family to be very committed to continuing my training so I can succeed at reducing my reactive behavior. And, I must admit I LOVE it when you tell me what a good boy I am!

Although I need slow intro's with other dogs, I lOVE to play with other dog friends. I have a husky sister who I ADORE! I love running around with her and playing with chew toys, and when we get tired, we snuggle up together for a nap.

I have no doubt continuing school will benefit me because I am super smart! In fact, not only am I leash, crate and potty trained, I already know a bunch of commands like ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, kennel/crate’, ‘wait’, ‘leave it’, ‘outside’, and ‘go potty’! So clearly, I am a prodigy!!

I am an awesome boy who is SOOOO loving! I have an enormous heart that is overflowing with love to share with my new family! I am looking for an active, patient family who will love me unconditionally, NOT give up on me and who will take me on all sorts of new adventures! If that sounds like you then I’m more than ready to come home!!

Tons of Love, Champion

Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
