Hello, my name is Derek. I’m a handsome and quiet young adult male Boston Terrier who’s one of those sit-back-and-watch-the-goings-on-around-me types. I also love to go on leashed walks and run around the yard so hopefully my new yard will be fenced! I would also love to have a doggie playmate at my new home too because I’ve recently learned that it’s a LOT of fun playing with other dogs, especially outside! Hee, hee!!
I tend to dart when I’m scared so great care must be taken around open doors etc.; I need to be alone when I eat; and I am fearful of men and children, but I did meet a cat once and I was very respectful so, YAY ME! I am an incredibly smart boy that catches on quickly and I am potty, crate, and leash trained. I even know commands like “sit”, “stay”, “come”, “outside”, “go potty”, “kennel/crate”, and “pillow” and a soft, cozy dog pillow or a furry blanket is where I feel safest! After all, home life is still new to me, and I am learning all sorts of new things. For example, I like getting pets; chewing on my toys; and being near people especially when treats like meat and cheese are involved! Oh my gosh, I almost forgot to mention that not only is there is a mandatory ‘cheese tax’ imposed on any nearby individual in the possession of cheese, but a hefty penalty of not only extra cheese but meat too, will be imposed for those who refuse to pay! I’m just sayin’…you HAVE been warned! Hee, hee!!
Anyway, I really am a super sweet guy who is simply looking for YOU…a patient fur-ever family who will love me unconditionally and NEVER give up on me! I promise I’m worth it and if you’ll give me a chance and welcome me into your world, I will be the best friend you could EVER imagine, and I may even give ya some cheese-tax breaks…we’ll see!! ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
