Hi! I am new here and am still getting used to a new life in a loving foster home! My life started a little tough, but I am so glad to be in a patient and loving foster home! I don’t have a lot of experience in being a dog, so I am very nervous and need a lot of patience and unconditional love to build my confidence. Allowing me a space to decompress, sniff and get used to my surroundings is very important.

There are so many NEW things to experience living in a home for the first time. What are those things you call stairs? I call them cliffs! What is that loud machine that warms up the blanket for my kennel – oh the dryer! Oh man – I need to walk through a door to go outside – I can do it! All these new things can be overwhelming, but I want you to know that I am doing my best to be brave and curious about my new world.

I am starting to show my foster mom my cute personality. I love to give kisses and get pets, just know that I take a while to warm up to people and feel trust. My people have been giving me treats, chew toys and bones and I have started to figure out what I am supposed to do – I am very smart! And I’ve learned that I love chew bones!

Because I don’t have any leash experience, I do require a fenced yard in my forever home. Also, I like to do the zoomies when no one is looking – my daily exercise is good for me!

I require another confidence and social dog in my forever home to teach me how to dog. Having another dog will help me get on a routine and build confidence when learning about all the new house things. Once I know and feel that I am safe, I can begin to increase my confidence. As my confidence grows and my trust grows I will be able to get more comfortable with my family.

I want to find my perfect home and live the happy, safe and loving life that I deserve. I am a very special girl with my own past and am hoping I can find the perfect family to work through all of that with me and help me be the best and bravest girl I can!

**Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
