Hi – my name is Gibbs and I’ve been told that my breed – German Short-haired Pointer – doesn’t come into rescue as often as other breeds. So, I promise not to disappoint!
If you don’t know much about my breed, please read up on it. We are very smart, active, shed and have the ideal nose for hunting things. I’d be great at obstacle or obedience training. I enjoy playing fetch and I have a stuffed bear that I am BFF’s with. I adore my humans and will follow you everywhere. I sleep on my dog bed all night right next to yours, just in case you need me.
I’m good with kids, other dogs and am also kennel and potty trained. I know basic commands for “sit” and “kennel”. I go for walks almost every day and do well but if I catch a scent, you should know I might pull you to hurry up and get there. So maybe no kids should walk me until we know they won’t drop my leash when I am searching for a squirrel. No cats please, as I have a high prey drive.
I can be an only dog as long as you are home most of the time. I would appreciate an active family that will spend time with me. For a smart dog, having adequate mental and physical stimulation is important. If we went to training together I know that I will be a great student and we could learn so many things together!
I will look outside and see a squirrel or a rabbit and bark, so be mindful if you’re on a Zoom call! Despite wanting to chase critters and having prey drive, my people said that I didn’t do well with loud noises so I wouldn’t be the right fit if you are looking for a hunting companion.
All I need now is a forever family that is ready to go on adventures together!
