I am an absolutely amazing 70 lb. adult Pitbull mix named Renaldo.  Sometimes people call me Renji.   Read on and be amazed at what an incredible boy I am! I am crate trained, house trained and walk very nicely on a leash.  I enjoy being with cats (yes I like kitties!) and with dogs of all sizes and shapes.  I have been in a daycare playgroup ever since I was a young guy and I get along with all kinds of different dogs.  I believe that I am so wonderful that everyone and every dog is my very bestest friend.  Sometimes I have a little trouble reading the room with other dogs but I listen and back off from the fun when told to do so.  I’m not much of a barker unless I am alarmed.

I am a very fit boy and would love to go camping, hiking, biking, walking, running, and might even like classes like agility or nose work to get my exercise.  I enjoy games of fetch and like to destroy my toys so I need the extra tough kind.

Did I mention that I am good with kids?  Well, I am!  I won’t need a fenced yard because I will do my business on leash.  I do really want to go to a forever home with another dog friendly dog for me to love on and play with.  I know what lots of words mean.  I am really smart so I know what to do when my foster mom says: sit; down; stay; come; kennel/crate; wait; leave it; outside; heel; go potty.  Whew!  That’s a lot of words!

Foster mom says I am the sweetest.  She calls me a 70 lb. weighted blanket because I love to snuggle on the couch with my human and give kisses.  Just ask me for a kiss and I’ll oblige!  I really am the bestest boy and ready for adventures with you!

Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
