Hi I'm Snowman!  I'm a sweet older gentleman who is ready to find a home to call my own.  I came from a shelter in Arkansas and when I arrived here my eyes were sad and dull.  I've been showed what love is here and the light came back into my eyes.  I now often have a smile and a happy tail wag to share with the people in my life.  I've even been known to do a cute little prancing dance.  This can be seen most often when I see my leash come out because I know I'm going to get to go outside where I can feel the wind in my fur, the sun on my face and all the good smells the world has to offer.  I don't need a lot of exercise so a short walk is fine with me.  When I'm not asking my mama for pets I enjoy napping in a comfy bed or blankie.  I'm usually pretty calm and quiet, but sometimes I get a little sassy and give a couple low slow barks.  My hearing isn't as good as it used to be so I won't hear you giggle at it, but I will see you smile and that makes me happy.  My nose though works amazingly.  I can sniff out food in a sealed wrapper you didn't even know about haha!  I love ear scratches and will turn around so you can scratch my bootie.  Those scratches feel amazing!  I enjoy car rides, but do prefer shorter ones.  I stand and look around and ask for pets as we travel.  I'm kennel trained, doing great on potty training and walk nicely on leash.  I take treats nicely too.  I have most of my teeth and eat dry kibble no problem in case you were wondering about that.  I'm on no medications but my mama does give me a joint supplement every day.  I haven't met any kids, but I'm sure I'd be fine with them.  Older kids would probably be better if you have any in the home.  Little kids might accidently fall on me and I wouldn't be able to hear them well enough to move out of their way.  If you have dogs in your home I do fine with them also.  I don't play, but would enjoy being their new sibling.  I can see us chilling out and enjoying being together, can you?

Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
