Hello! My name is Ainsley! I am a sweet girl looking for someone who loves all day snuggles! If you can give me your time, affection, and a bit of patience, I can give you all my love, cuddles, and, of course, my Boston smiles and snorts!  I’m 25 pounds which is perfect for travel, whether that’s around the country or from the floor to your lap. My favorite things to do are getting pup cups at the coffee shop, licking good stuff off of my lick mat, and...you guessed it…snuggling with you on the bed.

I’ve been working on learning lots of things, like “sit.” And I’m getting really good at going outside to go potty, but sometimes if it’s too cold or I can’t get out enough, I still have some accidents. It helps to have a fenced in yard, but if we can take lots of walks, my foster says that I’m an excellent walker and would be ok without a yard. I am startled by loud noises, though, and may seek my safe space when I hear them. I am also learning that men can be safe, friendly, and can give the best pets and treats. If you have a man around, it would help if he could be patient as I can be a little bit scared at first. But with some treats and pets, I’ll soon be putty in his arms! I love having my people around, so it would help if my forever family had someone who was home most of the time. I’ve been crated some times and I don’t really like it, and will let you know with my barks. I don’t bark all the time, though, only when I’m in my crate or when I get alarmed.

I have met some small children and because they’ve been so kind and gentle, we’ve made good friends.  While I love my humans, I would be best as an only dog. In fact, I’d love to have your attention all to myself! If there are any cats around, I might chase them away. So if you have a lot of love and attention just for me, I’d love to receive it all, multiply it, and give it back to you. If the Underdog people give you the OK, I’d love to meet you and see if I’ve found my forever snuggle buddy!

Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
