Hello, my name is Zora. I am a gorgeous and super sweet young adult female Newfoundland who enjoys eating treats, playing fetch, napping, running around the yard with my fur sibs, gnawing on bones, chewing on squeaky toys (or other things-hee, hee). However, although I’m initially shy and fearful of men, I love nothing more than spending time with my people and getting pets…I will probably even drool on you to show how much I’m loving the pets!! Hee, hee!!
I have not met any cats or kids and I get a bit anxious and vocal when people come over or I’m left alone, or in the crate/kennel. That said, once I’ve settled down, I am perfectly content sleeping the day away while my people are gone. I enjoy being with other dogs so much that I will need a companion at my new home, and I will definitely need my new yard to have at least a 6-foot fence around it because I can (and will) easily jump over anything shorter. Additionally, although I am leash trained, I pull extremely hard on it so foster mom uses 3 leashes, a harness, and another collar to not only make sure I don’t escape but to ensure my safety! I am getting more comfortable in the car; I know what “outside” and “go potty mean; and I am potty trained if I can stay on a consistent schedule. By the way, I should mention that foster mom says I’m “exceptional” at getting bathed and blow-dried…but I mean seriously, who doesn’t like to be clean and primped am I right!?!
Anyway, I truly am an adorably sweet and lovable girl who dreams of a fur-ever home with an unconditionally loving family who will not only NEVER give up on me but who is extra patient because treats don’t really work for me when it comes to training (hee, hee)! Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. ADOPTION EVENTS:
Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.
ADOPTION PROCEDURE:
FOSTER CARE:
All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. NUTRITION:
Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets. All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet. All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
