Hi, my name is Ozark! I’m a Shepsky (shepherd/husky mix) and all I want to be is the goodest boy I can! I am very sweet, loving, goofy and will always be by your side. I love kisses and hugs and would love a family of humans that doesn’t believe in personal space. This means I need a spot on the couch right next to you!

I’m very true to my breeds and have a lot of energy; I love being outside and doing all the things! Running, walking, chasing balls or squirrels, and boy I love playing in the snow. It is important that my forever family have time to exercise me daily so I can use up some energy.

I’m very smart and learn quickly, it would be best for me to be with humans who can help me learn things and keep my brain stimulated. I used to counter surf, but my foster family has taught me that it isn’t the most appreciated habit. Sometimes, when no one’s watching, my temptation still gets the best of me! But I promise to offer up the cutest puppy dog eyes, since I know you’ll understand that I’m just a good boy who loves food. I’m very food motivated, in fact I benefit from having a slow feeder because I get a little too excited at mealtime. I love my stuffies and toys, but more than anything I just want to be by your side and giving you affection!

I’m fully potty trained, but I get a little too excited while out on leash walks if I have a lot of energy.  Foster mom is teaching me so many things - and being a good boy on leash and not pulling is one of them. I'd love a fenced in yard so I can patrol the yard and get my zoomies out there, but if you can keep teaching me leash training etiquette, I'd love to be your walking or running buddy. Let's hit some trails and check out this world!   I have been known to be fearful of men at first, but with some time we can work on that together. If there is a cat in my forever home – watch out! I have high prey drive so it wouldn’t be a good fit.

Are you looking for a smart, cuddly guy who would love to do fun activities with you and always be by your side? If yes, I can’t wait to meet you!

Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
