Hi my name is Gracie.  I’m an adult female Maltese.  I love to follow my people around the house. I’m doing great on a leash and won’t need a fenced yard if you promise to keep practicing with me.  I love other small dogs and would really prefer to go to a home with at least one other confident dog who will show me the ropes on how much fun it is to be around people. 

I like women best and might take a little longer to feel safe around a man.  I’m still learning how wonderful it is to be petted and loved on so it’s best if people take it very slowly with me so I don’t get worried.  I’m working hard on learning how to go up and down stairs.  Going up is a cinch.  It’s the down part that has me a little baffled.

I don’t know what cats are and I don’t play with toys right now but I love to play with the other small dogs in my foster home. I’m very treat motivated which I think will make it pretty easy for me to learn new things.  I’m potty trained when I am kept on a good schedule. 

I would do best in a quiet home, where someone is home with me most of the time, and that offers me the time and patience to blossom into the beautiful little rose that I am.

Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
