Hello, my name is Surprise, and I am an incredibly handsome, shy, and sweet adult male Mini Poodle and foster mom says that I’m the “most polite and well-behaved” pup she’s ever seen!! That said, I can be pretty shy in the beginning, and it may take a long time for me to warm up, but I assure you that once my people have earned my trust, I am an affectionate little guy, and I will follow you everywhere like I do with foster mom!! I like to spy on her from a distance and I get super excited when she comes home. I am not really interested in toys yet but lamb flavor food…now there’s the secret to winning my heart! Hee, hee!!

I am great with the leash, sleeping in my kennel/crate, and doing my business outside. I have not met any kids yet, but I am always respectful of those whack-ya-in-the-face meowy things, and I am good with other dogs. I am also usually quiet unless, of course, my resident puppy sib annoys me…darn kids…sometimes ya just gotta say “Stop botherin’ me, I’m tryin’ to sleep here! Hee, hee!! The truth is, I do not like loud noises or commotion so hopefully my new home will be a quiet one.

Anyway, I really am a precious boy who is looking for a fur-ever home with a patient family who will not only love me unconditionally and NEVER give up on me, but who will allow me the space and time I need to acclimate in my own way! I promise I will love you more than I love myself!! Love, Surprise

Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. ADOPTION EVENTS:     

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
