Hello, my name is Nova I am a stunning and cautiously curious young adult female Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler mix. My favorite activities include gnawing on marrow bones; vocalizing my excitement & saying hello to strangers passing by the house; getting ear scratches and pets; running around a fenced yard; getting lots of exercise, relaxing in soft cozy beds or blankets; eating all kinds of treats/food; and playing with toys…especially squeakers! I also enjoy, in true Heeler fashion, herding my family by playfully nipping at their legs. Now I understand that some pups and people may not like my little love nips but herding is, after all in my genes…I’m just sayin’!

Anyway, I do not like loud noises or commotion, and I have not met any cats, but I am good with kids and other dogs. I live with a diverse group of canine sibs with whom I love to play so I would enjoy having a companion at my new home too. I am a smart girl who knows what “sit”, “come”, “outside”, and “go potty” mean and I am, for the most part leash, potty, and crate trained. Oh yeah, I almost forgot to mention that foster mom has learned that there is no need for a heated blanket when I’m around, so she allows me to sleep in the bed with her!! Hint, hint!!

I am such a sweet girl who simply dreams of finding the fur-ever home I so richly deserve. All I need is a patient, unconditionally loving family who promises to NEVER give up on me! I promise, if you’ll welcome me into your world then I will love you more than I love myself!! Love, Nova

Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. ADOPTION EVENTS:   

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
