Hi – I am the sweetest little basset hound you will ever meet! I came to MN as a very shy girl that needed some time to get used to life in a home and am doing amazing!  I know you won’t be able to resist my big brown eyes and long, very soft Basset ears.

I live in a condo with my foster family and everyone loves me! I am a very engaging gal and love to stop and gossip with all the neighbors. I get along great with my foster brother and I love meeting new people and playing with other dogs. If you stop petting me, I will nudge you for more attention – I am a pro at nose boops!

I am a bit of a couch potato – but who isn’t during MN winters?! Overall, I live a pretty quiet life – I like looking out the window to see what’s happening outside. I would love to have another dog in my forever home to help me gain confidence and learn how to dog. Another friendly and social dog will help me get on a routine and learn all about important dogs things.

We are working on leash training – since I live in a condo we go out to the potty area on a leash. If you are committed to continue leash training with me I don’t need a fence in my forever home. I like to go on short walks around the neighborhood. Also, I don’t bark much so I’d be fine with living in an apartment or a house. My foster dad is home most of the time so not sure how I would be if left home alone all day. I’m still working on potty training but making a lot of progress. I know to go sit at the door when I want to go out. It’s best to keep me on a regular schedule but I can also stay in my kennel for extended periods. I have never had an accident in my kennel and I sleep throughout the night in my kennel without making a sound. I’m working on some basic obedience commands but am quite well behaved and I know we will learn so many new things together!

I have one bad habit - I will try to steal your food if you are not looking – I am sneaky! And I may take a shoe off the floor, but it’s more for comfort than chewing.

If you are looking for a sweet little lady to keep you company, I’m your gal.

Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a  particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
