Hi! I am the cutest Matilda you will ever meet! It’s been a lot of fun learning so many things in my foster home. There are two kids here and I really like playing with them! My favorite thing to play with are squeaky toys. It’s almost an obsession for me!
It’s fun when I get the zoomies and go crazy for a little bit but then I like a good long power nap! You might find it odd, but I really enjoy being outside. Snow or not, it’s so fun!
I like having a fenced yard. I find it hard to do my business on a leash but I do walk fine on one. I just prefer some more privacy. Plus, I enjoy roaming the terrain and sniffing all the good things outside. Without a fenced in yard, I will go off on my own adventures, so, fenced in yard is needed for me! If you live in an apartment or near a fenced in area and we can walk to a secure area, that would work for me, too!
I have a little secret – I snore!! I did get surgery on my nares and soft palate to improve my breathing, and boy did that help! Typical of an English Bulldog, I can’t help it! Other than some snoring, I’m a pretty quiet girl. I do well with the dogs in my foster home, but haven’t exactly been nice with the dogs that are smaller than me. That’s ok, because there are lots of other dogs to choose from! If there are dogs in my forever home, I would prefer they be my size or larger. I'd also be ok being the only dog for you to love on and get all the attention!
I’m soooo close to being potty trained. I’ve had a couple accidents early on but am doing really well overall. If the weather would warm up, it certainly would be easier – but I want you to know that I am doing my best and will need more practice in my forever home.
One last thing, I did have my dental recently and lost a lot of teeth. They weren't able to get all my teeth done and I still need a few extractions. We have that appointment scheduled at an Underdog vet, but it's not until March. Because I'm so ready for my forever, they said I can find my new family and you can bring me to that appointment. This is covered in my adoption fee, so I just need you to get me a ride there so I can get the last of these teefers out.
All I need now is a forever family with lots of patience, unconditional love and a BIG toy box full of squeaky toys!! With love, Matilda
Bulldogs are a member of the Brachycephalic breed and therefore have a host of health issues that may arise. Because these dogs are new into our rescue, health issues in the future may arise that we are not aware of. Some of these issues are allergies, eye issues, yeast infections, interdigital cysts, slipped disks in their back, breathing problems, among a host of others that can occur at any time or when seasons change. While breed experience is not required, we encourage you to thoroughly research the breed and its financial, medical, and environmental needs to be sure the breed is a good fit for you and your family. It is estimated that the average bulldog owner spends $2,000 per year on medical needs. In addition to normal pre adoption surgeries, Daryl also had surgery on his nares and soft palate to improve the quality of her breathing. This is reflected within his adoption fee.
Bulldogs are one of the most expensive dogs to own, maintain, and rescue and our adoption fees reflect such expenses. The application process for bulldogs usually moves quite quickly as they are a popular breed, so we ask that adopters do research and be prepared for adoption at the time you submit your application. They are happy, goofy, playful characters and we are excited you are taking the first steps into rescuing one!
This dog requires an application fee. This fee must be paid within 24 hours or your application will be considered void. We will not review or contact applicants that have not completed the payment portion. Bulldog Applications will be responded to within 5 business days, after receipt of the application fee. Please understand that paying the fee does not guarantee you will be approved to adopt the bulldog. Our goal is place bulldogs in homes that are suited for their individual needs. You may be willing and able to provide a great home, but if it doesn’t meet the specific needs of the bulldog, we will not approve your application.
