Hello friends, my name is Elvis and I am a young hound dog mix! I am looking for a very special forever family that will love my waggin’ tail and eagerness to learn. I didn’t have a lot of socialization with people when I was a young puppy, so sometimes I’m worried of new people and new situations. But with a little patience and and once I get to know you, we will be loyal friends!
My foster family has been working with me and said that I am eager to learn, treat motivated and have learned a lot of important dog skills. I have a lot of puppy energy so will need a forever family that can help me get some exercise every day. Having another dog will help me get exercise and is very important to teach me that people are ok. I do love to cuddle the other dogs in my foster home and look to them for guidance and play time. Playing with toys is a fun part of my day too! Hopefully my forever home has a big toy box with as assortment of toys!
I am doing great with leash training – I am very smart and with a little practice and consistency, I figured it out! I am potty trained – I go in and out to the yard like the smart boy I am! I even know some commands like “off” “sit” “stay” “drop” and “release.”
Want to know a secret? I also like to snuggle with the people on the couch or in bed. I enjoy playing with my fur sibs, but I am also content simply entertaining myself or relaxing in a dog bed. Sometimes I will take naps in my kennel too when I need a break.
I am a bit slow to trust people and can sometimes be selective with my friends. But once I trust you – I will be a loyal and loving friend. Treats have been helpful with training and getting to know my people – I love treats! I have not met any kids, but I’m respectful of dog savvy cats and I’m great with other dogs. In fact, I’m in love with the cat in my foster home – we are besties and like chill out and look out the window together.
You will be amazed at how handsome I am when you meet me! All I need now is to find a patient forever family who will love me unconditionally and teach me so many new things, help me learn to trust and has a big toy box ready for me!
Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.
