Hello, my name is Alma and I am a loving and sweet corgi! I am a mix of silly and sassy and want to be your best friend! Like a typical corgi, I have my own ideas about life and enjoy being who I am – I know you will too!

I enjoy playing in the fenced yard with my foster fur-siblings, following my people around the house and playing with toys. I specifically like soft toys and will carry them around. My ideal forever home will have lots of toys and treats for me! Speaking of treats, the vet said I need to lose some weight. We are working to get my weight down to about 25 pounds so my foster family has adjusted my meals and treats. I would really love more treats but am being a good girl because I know it will make me feel better. While the vet made a comment about my “huge” corgi butt – my loving people made another comment and said I have a “huge personality” – I like them much better Hee Heee!

When I arrived at Underdog they noticed that I had an eye issue. My dry eye and ulcer are almost completely resolved - foster mom MADE me wear a cone for a couple of weeks. How humiliating! Just so my forever people know, I likely need eye drops for life, but I trust you will take good care of me, and I promise to be a good girl when you put them in.  My drops cost about $20 per month.

I am learning so many new dog skills since arriving in MN. We are working on leash training, so I won’t need a fenced yard if you are committed to continue training me. Sometimes I need coaxing to go in the direction my people think I should – with a little more practice I will be a leash walking champion! Foster mom has also been working on crate training me, I am trying to cooperate, but somedays I just don’t want to go into the kennel, so she occasionally leaves me out in a gated area. It is important I stay safe, so I am a work-in-progress on kennel training. Foster mom says I am good with the other dogs in my foster home – we like to play in the backyard. Most of all I love my people – when they call me I run as fast as I can on my little legs to get all the cuddles I can! I just want to be around them all the time!

I really am a delightful girl who is ready to find my forever family. I promise to do my best to be a loyal and loving bestie! All I need now is to find a patient forever family who will love me unconditionally and never give up on me! If you are looking for a silly girl with a huge personality, then you have just met your perfect match! Love, Alma

Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
