Hello Minnesota! My name is Francie (aka Daisy) and I am a sweet, friendly, affectionate adult female Beagle mix weighing in at 40 lbs. The vet thinks I’m a wee bit chubby for my size, so I’ve been instructed to lose at least 5 lbs. and so far I haven’t raised a stink at all about my restricted diet. In fact, I am more motivated by an exuberant “good girl!” than treat training so that’s a win-win for me.
I have discovered that my absolute favorite activity is taking long, slow walks where I can sniff to my heart’s content! My foster mom says that I sound like a baby piglet hunting for truffles when I’m sniffing scent trails and I have an adorable snore when I’m just falling asleep or lightly napping. I’ve recently discovered what toys are and I love play. I’ve also begun to experiment with jumping up onto comfy looking furniture. I may have short legs, but I can get myself up onto just about any comfy spot that tickles my fancy! I sleep on a pile of blankets on the floor next to my foster mom’s bed and willingly go into my crate with a frozen peanut butter kong when my foster mom goes to work. I do prefer larger metal crates to the smaller plastic kind; I have more room to move around that way. I also prefer to go outside with you if you’re just popping out to do something in the yard. If I know you’re out there without me and you’re not actually leaving the house for awhile I get a little upset and bark a bit because I would much prefer to be where you are. The only other time I bark is when I’m playing with other pups and they start barking first. My playful moments come in spurts and are usually followed by a nap.
I am an only dog during the week and then usually have a few canine companions on the weekend. I do great with all the pups I’ve met except for small, fluffy ones. They remind me too much of those pesky squirrels. I haven’t been cat tested yet, but I have been tiny human tested and I do just fine with them. Leash training is going well and I absolutely love my walks! I can be a bit stubborn when I know the walk is coming to an end because I just love to be outside exploring as much as possible. I know what “down,” “kennel up,” and “stay” mean. I am a smart girl and I pick up quickly on new commands and consistent training exercises. I go outside to go potty on a schedule and haven’t had any accidents in the house. I don’t require a fenced in yard or a canine sibling, but I sure would love to have both, especially if my humans are gone for extended periods of time.
My foster mom says I am a “wonderful, delightful girl who is going to make my new family very happy!” Do you think that family could be you? Are you ready to love me up, let me love you up, and give me the best pup life possible without giving up on me? If so, head on over to the application tab and get the ball rolling!
