Hello, my name is Francie and I am the perfect mix of playful and lazy – LOL!! My people say that I am a happy, funny and easy-to-have-around hound! A perfect day for me begins with snoozing near my people until they are done with their coffee, then we are off for a walk. I love to follow my nose, explore and see new things. My people love to take me on adventures, and I hope you do too! After our walk, it is time for a snooze. I would appreciate it if you have lots of comfy dog beds, even if you do, I am known for taking a snooze on a pile of laundry.

I get along with all dog friendly dogs – and I really love meeting new people. When we are out on adventure walks, I like to go up to people, big and small, for ear scratches. I have been great with dog friendly dogs I have met too. My foster family doesn’t think I need another dog in my forever home if my new people are home a lot. Although, I really would like a doggy friend to help me get on a routine and learn to socialize with my new people. If you are not home a lot, I would need another friend so I’m not worried. When my foster mom leaves for work, I do bark for a few minutes, but then I get to work on my frozen peanut butter kong and chew toys. And when my people are outside, I do like to be able to see them so will start singing (bark bark! Hee hee!). As long as I can see my people I am happy!

When I came to Underdog the vet said I needed to go on a diet. I have been on a weight loss journey for a couple months and made great progress with a healthy diet and exercise. I only have a few more pounds to go to get to the goal set by the vet. My people said my transformation has been amazing – not only did I lose weight, but my healthy kibble has made my fur look so much better and I have a lot more energy to frolic in the yard and go on adventures.

We have been working on crate training, I’m not the biggest fan and will bark. Currently I sleep on the floor in a dog bed next to my people’s bed. My people want to be sure you know that I am a potty training champion and do my business outside. Yay me! I’ve recently discovered what toys are and I love play. I’ve also begun to experiment with jumping up onto comfy looking furniture. I may have short legs, but I can get myself up onto just about any comfy spot that tickles my fancy!

Like a typical beagle, I like to follow my nose and have strong opinions. Foster mom says I snuffle like a pig when I pick up a scent, which is one of my most endearing qualities. We are working on perfecting my leash walking – sometimes I freeze on the leash if my people are going in a direction I don’t want to go. It is my way of saying “c’mon let’s go!”

I am really a delightful girl who is ready to find my forever family. One that will take me on lots of adventures, wander around the neighborhood and explore different parks – keeping my nose filled with new and exciting smells is the way to win me over! I promise to do my best to be a loyal and loving friend. All I need now is to find a patient forever family who will love me unconditionally and never give up on me! If you are looking for a happy girl then you have just met your perfect match! Love and kisses, Francie

Some of our dogs are obtained from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. Others have come from various situations where they are lacking confidence in humans. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.
