Hello, my name is Holly. I am a smart and gorgeous young adult female Pit Bull/Lab mix who loves people, once I get to know them!! I have not met any little people and I am fearful of strangers, but I do warm up quickly especially when treats are involved! Frankly, I’m a huge people-pleaser who is very treat motivated so I am told with exercise, consistency, and treats (ok, I added the ‘treats’ part) I will be the best-behaved dog my new family has ever had!

My foster family has been taking me to doggy school. I am learning obedience commands for come and focus. We are also working on my confidence and my stranger danger fears. I have a fear of men and unfamiliar people that approach me that we are working on. We are also working on polite greetings for other dogs, so it would be best if I am the only dog in my forever home. I am a work-in-progress and would love my forever family to commit to continuing dog training, enrichment activities and perhaps daycare a couple of times a week to keep my mind and body busy.

I’m told I “think” I’m a lap dog, that is wrong because I KNOW I’m a lap dog and I love to give hugs and kisses. That said, teaching me that I’m too big to jump up and give someone a hug, is important. I also enjoy getting pets, eating treats like Kongs with a little bit of peanut butter, (YUMMM), solving puzzle games, playing with other dogs my size or larger, and learning new things. Speaking of learning, I truly am quite brilliant in fact, I am told that I am “beyond smart” because I pick up on commands very quickly and I’m a great listener even when my people says “no”. I know commands like, “come”, “leave it”, “go potty”, and I learned “sit”, “down”, “wait”, “leave it” and “shake”.  I even know where in the house I’m allowed to be and I am potty, leash and crate trained so you can clearly see that I am a prodigy! I will enjoy pulling you around the neighborhood on leashed walks but admit that I need to get some play time in before we go to ensure my focus is on walking rather than playing with everything I see (LOL). This is where a wonderfully fenced yard where I can romp, and play would be great (hint, hint)!! I like running around the yard with a soccer ball – perhaps you can teach me to fetch when the weather gets warmer? As for the crate, I do enjoy crate time when a Kong is involved otherwise, I may cry and holler a bit before I settle in! I did meet a cat and my people discovered that I have high prey drive so a forever home without cats would be best.

Anyway, are YOU ready to welcome a beautiful 50lb lap dog into your life? I have an enormous heart that is overflowing with love that I dream of sharing with YOU! It’s been often said that I am a “dream dog” so if you are patient and promise to love me unconditionally and NEVER give up on me then I think you and I are meant to share our lives together. I promise we will have the best adventures together!! Kisses and Hugs, Holly

Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders.  Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit.  Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.

ADOPTION EVENTS:

Adoption events are updated as the foster home RSVP's to attend. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. You may wish to consider applying and setting up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved.

ADOPTION PROCEDURE:

The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website:
Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.
All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions.

FOSTER CARE:

All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves. If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application.

NUTRITION:

Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal.
