Hello, my name is Jericho and I am a work in progress. I am a young and usually quiet adult male Terrier mix who is fearful of many things, but working really hard to overcome those fears and my reaction. I will quiver when I have the leash on, and I need some personal space until we learn how to interact. When I get worried, I sometimes fear-bite/nip but when you think about it…doesn’t that kind of make sense?? I mean, if YOU were faced with something that terrified you, I highly doubt you would sit back and do nothing. I am quite positive that you too, would have some sort of reaction and since I can’t speak…biting/nipping is really my only way to communicate my fears. Anyway, I am trying diligently to overcome these fears and have even enlisted the help of a personal trainer so between them and my foster parents I am coming along nicely. I even stayed with my trainer for a few days and mom and dad said that when I came back home, I was SO different and much less afraid! YAY ME!!! So, you can see that I truly am trying extremely hard and although it has been very tough, I’m not giving up!! I have made HUGE progress, but I will need a family who is respectful of my boundaries and WILL continue my training once I get to my new home.
While that all might sounds overwhelming - I promise with calm leadership that I will do my best to be your buddy. I love to share snacks with my foster mom - if she is eating an apple, I like to gently rest my paws on her knee and give her adorable puppy eyes and she can't help but share with me! We like having a little snack time everyday together. It gives us an opportunity to talk about our day and have some quiet time.
I have not met any cats, but I LOVE to wrestle, play, do zoomies, and run, run, run with other doggies. In fact, I will need some playmates and a fenced yard at my new home so I can get some good exercise since the leash is a no-go for me right now. Foster mom says I have so much potential and is excited to see me make leash progress with the trainer. Truth is, not only am I in heaven when I’m playing with my canine buddies, but I also hope they will help me overcome some of my fears. When I’m not playing, I enjoy napping on foster dad, cuddling on the couch, asking for/getting pets, and eating ice cubes! I will even come running when I hear the ice machine! Hee, hee!! I don’t mind meeting new people, but I do keep my distance from them. I am potty and crate trained but mom and dad rarely put me in the kennel anymore because A). I am not a destructive boy, and B). I need to be with people so I can learn to trust them.
All I really want out of life is to be unconditionally loved and NEVER given up on. I truly don’t think that’s too much to ask do you!?! I didn’t think so. If you are looking for an amazing cuddle companion who will be your best friend for life, then I would LOVE for YOU to be my furever family! We can continue my training together and make unforgettable memories that will last a lifetime! Love, Jericho
