Hi, my name is Jimmy I am 60 pounds of happy! I am a senior, meaning I have experienced in a lot in my life, but have a lot left to give.
My friends at Underdog Rescue all me their true Underdog! I came to MN from a Texas shelter during the deep cold and team Underdog made the commitment to start working on a healthy new me! I spent a few months getting heartworm treatment – which means spending a lot of time in my crate and lounging around the house. I learned how to be a champion napper and really love my crate! Now, all the pesky heartworms are gone and I am ready to find my forever family!
My foster mom is the best and sweet talks to me, she says I am the best senior dog and knows that I love getting pets, leisurely walks, naps, carrots and destroying anything with stuffing. I’m not going to keep it a secret from you – but once I decide I want something watch out. I have been known to counter surf and get into things I shouldn’t and sometimes unexpected. Foster mom says I mostly do it when I am stressed, so would do best with a tidy house and predictable routine. I also need to mention that my vision is slightly impaired so I would do best in a home without small children, or children that are dog savvy when playing with me – sometimes I don’t notice little hands when we are playing with toys together.
My friends at Underdog have made a few guesses about me while I have been in their care. They are guessing I am about 11 years old and guessed I was a shepherd Texas mutt… but guess what?! My foster mom did a DNA test and I am 50% pit bull and 33% golden retriever. As you would expect with a pit/golden mix, I am eager to please, loves training and am very social. I am calm around other dogs and mostly ignore my feline foster brothers, except when those annoying meow’y cats bite my wagging tail, then I sit down and glare at them! If being happy and wagging my tail is wrong, then I don’t want to be right – cats are so judgmental.
While I love other dogs, I don’t need one in my forever home but would be fine in a home with other animals of any size. I also don’t need a fenced yard as I am leash trained, but I would need to make sure my forever family takes me out regularly for potty time. Something else you need to know about me. Not only am I a good looking fella, but I also look fabulous in hats! Additionally, I am also a sensitive guy and eager to please so need someone that can commit to positive reinforcement and tell me I am handsome everyday!
Well, that’s enough about me for now as it is nearly naptime. If you are ready to welcome an amazingly sweet, loving and dog that looks great in hats – then I am your guy!! I am ready to share my life with someone who promises to love me unconditionally! I promise that you will be amazed at all the love I have to give and I can’t wait to meet you! Love, Jimmy
Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.
