Well hello there! My name is Anjelica and I am a very sweet, very curious 20lb Shiba Inu senior lady. I am still quite shy and prefer to have several den-like places to quietly observe the humans in the room from. I’m a fan of open kennels or cozy a spot under a piece of furniture so that I can watch you from a safe distance. Food generally coaxes some bravery out of me and my favorites are freeze-dried snacks, meaty treats and cheese. When I am feeling good and ready with the help of some snacks, I will venture out and relax in a dog bed close to my humans.
I am still working on my potty training and do well on a schedule of being let out every 3-4 hours. I do have accidents if my humans are gone too long though, so my new family will need to continue patiently working on this with me. I’m not a fan of going potty on a leash, so I will need a fenced in yard in my new home. I do like to go for walks though and my foster mom says that I do well on my leash. I am crate trained and prefer to sleep in my crate at night, but I do not like to be left in a closed crate during the day and will try my best to escape. Can you blame me though?
So far I like the other pups I’ve met, but I don’t like it if they are overly playful and all up in my business. I do gain some confidence by watching other pups though, so I may do well in a home with a calm canine brother or sister as long as my family is home often to continue working with me on my confidence. Too much commotion scares and overwhelms me, so I would do best in a home without small children.
My foster mom says that I am very sweet and a curious watcher. I like to be in the room with my people as long as it’s a zen zone. The best family for me will allow me the space I prefer to just be a chill little senior lady. I may not be the snuggliest pup, but I do love to go for walks and truly enjoy my humans’ companionship. If you’re an old soul like me who’s looking for a great hang-out and leisurely stroll pal, I’m your gal!
Many of our dogs are rescued from commercial breeders where they spent their lives getting comfort from their canine friends. In turn, most require another companion dog in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog, and do not currently have a dog residing with you, please understand that your home might not be the right fit for many of our dogs.
